This farm is an excellent choice for the entire family to visit and just have fun. Just a 50 minute drive from Sacramento is basically my heaven an agricultural area known as Apple Hill. Apple Hill is home to over 50 local family farms, ranches, orchards, pumpkin patches, Christmas tree farms, and wineries — mainly spread throughout the town of Camino. The second the Northern Californian air gets a little bit colder, I start planning my fall day trip to Apple Hill! The area is open for the fall season from Labor Day Weekend through Thanksgiving. The Apple Hill Growers has grown from 16 original ranchers in 1964 to over 55 ranchers today sharing the fruits of their labor with thousands of visitors every year.

More than 50 family farms grow crisp apples and other fall favorites. Soak up the country charm at Apple Ridge Farms, stop No. 20 on the Apple Hill map, often less crowded than other spots. You'll find a cute pumpkin patch with plenty of photo ops beside the farm's giant pumpkin or among 50,000 zinnias in bloom. Pan-mine for gems, fossils and arrowheads, or take a scenic butterfly walk, and enjoy sticky barbecue in the picnic area beneath a canopy of trees.

This seven-generation family-owned farm is more than just a Christmas tree farm. It also produces berries, apples, pumpkins and vegetables. Situated the farthest east of any of Apple Hill's farms, Harris Tree Farm is definitely worth the extra drive. In the barn you'll find for sale homemade pies, donuts, preserves, apple cider, blackberry salsa and even enchiladas. Just across the street from the farm you'll find a beautiful and secluded nature trail that is perfect for those looking for a leisurely walk.
The serene trail follows the banks of the El Dorado Irrigation District Main Canal, which is more like a little stream tucked under the pines than a canal. Located an hour away from D.C, Larriland Farm is a great escape from city life. Known for its fresh fruits and vegetables, Larriland Farm offers customers the chance to pick their own pumpkins, apples, and strawberries. Lucky for you, fresh strawberries can still be picked, but will close for the season once the farm opens the apple orchards on November 4, 2018.
Additionally, Larriland Farm's pumpkin patch is located one mile north of the grounds. The farm also provides hay rides and a "Boo Barn" for the kids. Delfino Farms, formerly, Kids Inc. is also a popular ranch, it's a great choice both for kids and adults (it's one of my traditional stops). Kids Inc. also has a gorgeous Nature Trail, leading guests on a winding path through the orchard and down to a creek. If you haven't tried the local apple cider doughnuts, then I would give those a try. Here you can enjoy a large variety of apple desserts and fruit pies.
